Extra Benefits on your Health Plan

Many Health Insurance plans offer credits and reimbursements to enrollees of the plan. This includes reimbursement toward dental or vision services, wellness visit credits, or available free items. Both Individual Plans and Medicare Plans may offer extra incentives and bonuses.

While specific healthcare related benefits are regulated, extras are not and so these vary from plan to plan. Sometimes, enrollees don’t know their plan offers credits, reimbursements, free services or items. It’s always a good idea to review the plan documents and note these extra benefits. Often, it requires the person enrolled to complete a form or make a request to enjoy these perks or you miss out!

Here are some common benefits for Individual Plans. Mountain Health Co-op currently offers $100 dental and $60 vision reimbursements toward services not covered by the plan. St. Luke’s Health Plan offers a free at-home diagnostic device to members for use during virtual visits. Select Health plan members can earn up to $240 per person, per year or $580 per family, per year for fitness perks. They also offer discounts on uncovered services such as LASIK, acupuncture, cosmetic dermatology, and tattoo removal. Many plans offer pharmacy discounts and free preventative services like vaccines and other tests at no cost.

These are some common extra benefits on Medicare Plans. Examples include $50 VISA credits for reporting an annual checkup. Free gym memberships on both Advantage Plans and some Supplements. Many offer no cost Over-the-Counter items or free meals following release from the hospital. Special Needs plans offer grocery credits or transportation.
