At Treasure Valley Health Insurance, we want you to know what to expect during Open Enrollment this year.
As always, we invite you to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
If you have a grandfathered plan outside of the Affordable Care Act (ACA)
Your health insurance company will send you a document outlining your policy renewal and coverage terms. They will also inform you if you need to do anything to continue coverage. In most cases, you won’t need to do anything, but changes need to be made prior to your renewal date, usually the month prior.
If you have an ACA plan purchased on the Marketplace:
If you wish to stay on your current policy and have no tax credit: You need to do nothing. Your new rates will change as of January 1st, based on the communication you received from your health insurance company, such as Blue Cross.
If you wish to stay on your current policy and you have a tax credit: Renewal of your policy will happen automatically and you need to do nothing, but YOUR TAX CREDIT MAY NOT AUTOMATICALLY RENEW. Your Health Idaho will send you a notification on email if they need anything from you to review your tax credit eligibility. If you do not send them that information by the deadline given in the notification, your tax credit may terminate and you may be required to pay the entire amount of your policy premium at that time. If you require assistance with getting information turned into Your Health Idaho, please contact us.
If you wish to change policies:
You can begin reviewing available insurance plans on the marketplace at yourhealthidaho.org on October 1st. You may enroll in a new plan starting October 15th. To shop anonymously for available plans you can visit the website without logging in and browse plans. To make a change your plan, you need to sign into your account.
YOUR DEADLINE TO MAKE CHANGES IS DECEMBER 15TH.
Sometimes your plan may change to a similar, but not identical plan.
Your insurance company will automatically enroll you in a different policy of their choosing if your current plan is discontinued. If you do not want to move to the new policy they have selected for you, then you will need to choose a new plan. We are happy to provide plan options for you, just contact us to let us know what you are looking for in an insurance plan and we’ll send health insurance plan choices to you.
For all clients
Please note that in many cases there have been changes in coverage for policies starting in January. Please read the renewal information you get from the companies thoroughly so that you are not surprised in January.
If we can make your renewal easier for you in any way, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help in any way we can!
